The folks over in Yahoo! Mobile have just launched a new product called Contacts Back-up. Can you guess what it does? It’s about time, if you ask me. I’ve always been suprised that the carriers didn’t use they their network to offer this service.

Now save your contacts from your mobile phone into your Yahoo! account.

  • Combine your contacts on your phone with those already in your Yahoo! Address Book.
  • Synchronize your phone contacts with your Yahoo! Address Book as often as you like.
  • Synchronize your calendar and tasks as well.

It’s only for Cingular and T-Mobile at the moment. (Grrr, annoying how everything in the mobile space is so often carrier-exclusive.)

How else will the always-on network connection of phones change the services offered by carriers, the orthodox web, and the interactions of both?

    no verizon? that’s weak

I’ve got two sets of papers with numbers rescued from my last two defective phones & I’m putting off on entering them in since I’m getting another new phone soon.

That reminds me to blog a rant on how terrible Verizon’s service is in N Berkeley.

check out our own service in Europe and Africa.wireless back up of contacts(3,000),pictures,text messages and we use syncML,SMS and onlien methods…and support over 50 handsets on sync too across all networks in UK.

But yahoo initaitive is good.We are looking at US Market too!

  3. Our service at http://www.zyb.com does the same as Yahoo! Mobile + a lot more. It’s completely free for users and carrier independent. Works all over the world for more than 200 handsets. You can share calendar and contacts with friend, auto-update, etc.
