I’m back in my suite at Ceasar’s in Vegas, having just finished presenting my third of three talks at the Web Builder 2.0 conference. Yesterday I presented two talks: my Accessible DHTML talk, and my Yahoo! vs. Yahoo! DHTML Case Studies talk. Today I presented a new talk titled Inside the Yahoo! User Interface (YUI) Library. All three seemed well received, and it was an honor to have a packed room for each. I met lots of great people, and am looking forward to following up with all the new people I met. (Please drop me a note if I didn’t get your email address!)

  1. Nate, I really like the slides. Ever think of writing an article for A List Apart on Accessible DHTML? I don’t think it has been done yet. It would be VERY useful.

  2. Thanks Justin, that’s a good idea. I’ve enjoyed bringing the ideas to conferences - but you’re right that there’s a broader audience out there.

  3. Nate - I sat in on all 3 of your talks this past week and was very impressed with your presentations. I think the talk that I can “take away” the most from, that is, bring back to my colleagues not lucky enough to attend was your “The Yahoo! User Interface (YUI) Library” I am a Web Designer for Kansas.gov, the official Web site for the state of Kansas and based on your presentation I will be recommending adoption of the YUI Library in our shop. I think you said, “We’re Yahoo!, so it has to work.” That’s our biggest challenge is adopting something new and wondering if we’re using something that will work amongst the masses. I think we have now found the answer. Thank you for your hard work, as well as the numerous others that have put this together. Your presentation style was great, your knowledge on the subject was clear, concise and vast and you can really tell that you not only love what you do but are “really good at it.”

    Thanks again - James

  4. Just wanted to add this as well. I took the first day before your first talk. A terrible picture I realize (thanks Treo) - I must have moved my hand or something. Also, taken way before you packed the house.

Anyway, thought you’d want to see.

  5. Hi James,

You just made my morning, thank you. Thanks for coming to the sessions, and for taking the time to offer your kind words!

As you explore our library more, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have questions or need any information. Also, we love hearing about what people are doing with our stuff, so if ever have any implementations you can talk about, please do!

Thanks again, and I hope our paths cross again soon.

    thanks
    Nate

  6. Nate,

I went to two of your three sessions as well, and I enjoyed them quite a bit. Looks like you had quite the government crowd - one guy from Kansas.gov, and I’m a web designer for Utah.gov.

I came across the YUI library when it was first released, but for some reason was hesitant to use it. Your presentation on the how/why/what of the YUI library answered a lot of the unspoken questions I’ve had, so I look forward to testing it out in some of our webapps down the road.

Again, great job presenting.. keep up the good work!
